AEV comprehends different levels of learning, Pre-school education (3 years and optional), Basic school – 1st, 2nd, 3rd cycles (9 years) and Secondary school (3 years), Basic and secondary are compulsory. In the secondary level we minister general and professional courses for aldults learners like Electricity, ICT, Photography, Sport management, Social Services amoung others.
It is immersed in a zone semirrural with a strong industry of furniture to approximately 30 km from Oporto.
About 2.400 students attend our schools and the majority, 1.700, in the basic level. We also have 220 teachers from all areas of expertise, 15 secretary assistants and 65 operational assistants , and 3 School Psychologists.
We are formed by one main school, Escola Básica e Secundária de Vilela, a basic and secondary school, Escola Básica e Secundária de Rebordosa, two schools centers, with the 1st cycle of education and nursery school, one smaller school, with 1st cycle and nursery school, and one nursery school.
There are two Structured Teaching Units for the Education of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder of 1st cycle and another one directed to 2nd and 3rd students. These Unities represent a specialized resource to support SEN children aiming to enable students to acquire specific skills for their better integration into daily and academic life. It is a multidisciplinary team, with active stakeholders, teachers and operational assistants, who intend to take advantage of their structured power to carry out activities oriented towards the achievement of educational objectives of the different areas, leading to the integral formation of the students and awareness of the inclusion and acceptance of difference.
The Group is part of Paredes municipality in one of the most adverse contexts in the country. These are issues that the school has sought to reverse, and for this reason has established a network of sustained partnerships, both between schools, and with the local authority and various other bodies
in the community.
It has good facilities, with some rooms equipped with interactive whiteboards. It belongs to the Network of School Libraries, betting strongly on this resource, fomenting several projects that promote the reading and the writing.
The Center for Formation of Schools Association of the municipalities of Paços de Ferreira, Paredes and Penafiel is headquartered at Vilela High School which is also its legal entity. It is the mission of this CFAE to organize a continuous Training Plan that responds to the Training Plans of the 21
schools that comprise it.
Lastly, it should be noted that we try to have Teacher Education for inclusion by equipping all teachers to meet the increasingly diverse needs of learners.

Our objectives are:
- To promote a culture of organization based on the commitment, confidence and personal and professional responsibility that propitiates an utonomous development strategy.
- To increase the educational success of the students through quality educational practices that respond with equity to the needs and interests of the students, providing them with the acquisition of skills, knowledge and attitudes that facilitate autonomous learning processes, as well as the ability to
participate and to intervene in society.
- To develop procedures of articulation and sequentially that are facilitators of the transition between teaching cycles, generating continuous and significant lines of pedagogical practices, propitiating multidisciplinary and progressive knowledge.
- Betting on training as a way to respond to scientific, pedagogical and technological challenges, favouring personal and professional development, starting from strategic training plans, fostering a culture of learning and pedagogical innovation.
